Ok so here something that I did today... a test of a sneaky walk of a kind of child body wihtout arm (poor guy... Tongue)

Done with Pencil 0.4.3b without a tablet, just with the mouth.
Sorry, even if pencil allow you to create a .mov, my computer doesn't want to so here is a flash animation, when I can I will put one!
Edit, it's done, here is the .Mov

Wanted to speak about pencil because I start to get really excited about this little software. I find it's just amazingand FREE.
here is the official Website.
http://www.les-stooges.org/pascal/pencil/
I tried several software for animation, even some that you have to pay (I tired the demo version) And I didn't find tools as cool as in pencil. So here is a little list.

*You can have as many layers as you want. Bimap Layer but also Vector layer, sound and Camera.
*You have usual tool like a pen, a brush but really cool one like the polyline. The polyline sooth the line you are drawing so it makes your lines look nice even if you use a mouth.
*Use of all the color you want.
*the camera layer is so great, you can zoom and rotate and move and everything is keyable.
*Onion Skin (you can see the key before and after) -just one, could be improved.
*the Vector layer. (which bug a bit with window so save a lot your work) draw shape with the polyline and you can move the point on the other frame, you just have to select it, copy/paste, and tweak. with that you can also have line fill with color and hide line fill with color if you want to add some shadow for exemple!

Anyway, I just love it! I thought that without a tablet I couldn't really do something good on that kind of software and now I can!

Here is the animation with my sketching layer.

Now let's speak about the animation, I think I stretched too much the leg at the beginning of the move, I will try to work on that...
What do you think?

thanks for any C&C.

Mathias

here is an update done yesterday night. I tried to make him smaller, not strecth the leg too much. and I added roughly the arms.

For now it's animated in 2's. I'm thinking to make it slow more at the end, and I will also put a sleeping cat there.

Hey Mathias  Wink  that's fun to watch some pencil animation, I think it's more magic than CG especialy lne tests.

So for your last one, I think you need correct your arc ( look closely 19,21,23 ) and a little anticipation on the cat about ( 65 )

I'll come back to see the improvements ...  Cool  so,  keep working ....

Hey Mathias!

Nice stuff you have there! The walk is really well done. Regarding the cat i would say he's a bit too slow. When i wake up mine, he makes really really fast movements i tell ya haha!
Keep up the good stuff! =]

That looks great so far, I'm pretty new to animation but one of my long term goals is to be able to animate a cat! I reckon if you can capture their movement you could animate almost anything  Smiley

Cheers,
