Hello all,

Here are a few rough 2D exercises from class. I spent 4-8 hours on each one.

Ledge Walk (21mb)

Box Catch (30mb)

Swinging on a Rope (20mb)

I probably won't have time to re-visit any of these, but I would appreciate some crits on what I should look out for next time.

Hey man i like what you did here. You chould write down the frame number, it would be easier for us to comment of specific frames and drawings.

Here's a couple of comments :

on the box catch, when he get the second box, the recoil should be way more important, Just think about it; the box seems to be really heavy and it came from a very long and high distances. the guy just can't catch it taht easy, the weight of the box should drag him to screen right for a couple of frames to really feel the force coming into him and the weight of the box. What could be great also is when the guy is waiting for the box and he see that's its coming, you could have one more inbetwern where you could have him lay toward the box more. Kind of a nice stretch before the big squash when he gets the box.

Also, be careful with the shadow of the biggie box at the end. Just track it and you ll see that the shadow is not placed accurately. As we can see the box coming forward, the last drawings of the shadow are just making it not moving forward, only falling. Just check it out.

I'll try to give the others animation a look and give some crit later

Anyway, really nice animations and keep up the good work.

Thank you for the crits Phil.  I definately see the problem with the shadow, I may just drop it from the animation later on. I also strongly agree with increasing the stretch on the pose before he catches the second box. I had already re-drawn a few frames twice after pencil tests to push that pose, but I could have definately pushed it further. It helps to get my head out of the light table disk and refresh my eyes.
